Board of Directors
The role of the Board of Directors is to act as ambassadors for PEGASUS Institute, representing the organization and its purpose, values and mission. As a group, the board monitors activities, income and expenses, sets budgets, and plans for the future. Board Members of PEGASUS Institute are the trustees who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the organization has adequate resources to advance its mission.
Roles Roles and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Understanding and demonstrating a commitment to the organization’s mission and programs
- Keeping up to date with issues and trends that affect the organization
- Preparing for meetings by reading agendas, minutes, reports and other documentation required to actively participate in them
- Attending meetings regularly
- Contributing skills and knowledge by participating actively in meetings and committee work
- Making inquiries when clarification or more information is needed
- Understanding and monitoring the organization’s financial affairs
- Understanding and maintaining confidentiality
- Ensuring the organization is complying with all legal and regulatory requirements
Advisory Committee
The role of the Honorary (Advisory) Board is to provide PEGASUS Institute with specialized advice, information, experience, and skills, so that the organization is able to achieve and maximize its full potential. Advisory Memers will be called upon for regular advice, guidance and support as we navigate the growth and sustainability of the organization.
Roles and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Providing recommendations and advice for areas of focus and development for PEGASUS Institute
• Providing valuable advice relating to the specific purpose of PEGASUS Institute including the various pillars/streams/ themes of focus
• Serving as advocate for the organization, providing feedback to the organization from the community.
• Assisting in determining the mission and purpose of a program, articulating the goals, means, and primary constituents to be served by a program, ensuring effective planning, monitoring and strengthening of programs and services, ensuring adequate financial resources, and enhancing the organization’s public standing.
• Providing meaningful opinions and perspectives within PEGASUS Institute formal and informal meetings and discussions
• Providing subject matter expertise related to the ‘bigger picture’ of PEGASUS Institute’s mission and give context to the organization’s institutional plans
• Making recommendations to support the work of the PEGASUS Institute in an innovative, experience-based manner, while indicating priorities and approaches where new regulatory frameworks are necessary to deal with emerging technologies or other innovations
• advising on opportunities for more effective consultations and engagement mechanisms, to ensure meaningful dialogue with organizational partners, donors, government officials and others in related sectors on a range of issues related to the mission of PEGASUS Institute.
Events Committee
The Events Committee is a standing committee that ensures the visibility of PEGASUS Institute and exchanges information and knowledge (in a multidirectional way) with the public in multiple formats. We are looking for individuals to assist our Event Committee Leads, Events Co-ordinator, President and Director in brainstorming innovative ideas and platforms for sharing, connection and action.
Roles and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Contributing to the discussion, brainstorming and sharing innovative ideas for events and engagement
- Organizing events through communication with participants, speakers and innovators
- Assisting the Events Manager with Event related tasks

Communications and Social Media Committee
PEGASUS Institute’s Communications and Social Media Committee disseminates communication materials and platforms with the purpose of exchanging information (multidirectional) and translating knowledge related to the nexus of Global Health, Peace and Environmental Sustainability. The committee communicates and interacts with members of the public via multiple pathways.
Roles and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Coordinating and developing communications plans that engage a diverse range of participants
- Collecting and posting past and current event information, organizational updates and events, activities and communications material to social media, keeping with the purpose and brand of PEGASUS Institute
- Managing membership, publicity and requests via various communication platforms.
- Engaging contacts and networks in sharing information and interaction
- Providing and sharing information with the PEGASUS Institute Board and Leadership Team
